On 26th June 2001 work was in progress on a new sewerage system in Lochcarron. Initially I was just taking some progress photographs because I had originally photographed the sewage outfall problems that caused the replacement to be initiated. Diggers were working on the shore at low tide, and after a couple of pictures I was putting my kit away in the car. Then I noticed one digger at an angle and surrounded by the incoming tide. Never did I realise that the digger saga would dominate the news for weeks to come! Although the gallery pictures are now re-instated, the original commentary is no longer available. I'm sure however that they will bring back memories, and how effective our digger was for tourism !
